Heirloom Long Cowl Free Knitting Pattern

I love this pattern! It is fun and quick to knit and the results are amazing!

This cowl is soft and light-perfect for all seasons! Plus it is versatile, you can wear it across your shoulders, folded over as a neck warmer, or worn loosely around your neck.

It is worked in a combination of ribbing and garter stitch giving it a great drape and interesting texture.

Trend Spotting: Vests

Summer is officially here-which means it's time to start thinking ahead to fall. I know what I'll be offering for my fall knit fashions in my etsy shop, OnTheRound , but I'm not quite ready to reveal them yet.

So instead, I thought I would offer up some thoughts on one trend that I know it going to be heating up when the weather starts cooling down...

Vests

I'm loving this vest from ileaiye Seems like a great look for those Indian Summer days that we're all so familiar with in Maine!

Nothing says fall like Argyle and this vintage vest available from Starlet Vintage is no exception! At $18 this vest is not only a steal, but a classic piece that would be great by itself in the fall and layered in the winter!

This organic cotton wrap by ednaandwilhemina is perfect for the Eco Fashioniesta in all of us! Good for the environment, good for your wallet, and good for your back to school look!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this trend! Please leave your comments below and be sure to check out the shops featured in this blog!

Hand Dyed, Hand Spun, Hand Knit by rAchel.jones

I'm am so pleased to reveal my new Hand Dyed, Hand Spun, Hand Knit Sweater!
Drum roll please...

This sweater is extra special not only because it is my own design, but it's the first big project that I have knit with my own hand spun yarn! I don't mean to toot my own horn...but beep beep!

Here are the specs:

8- 100/120 yard skeins of aran weight, self striping, hand spun merino wool
Hand Dyed in Spring Green Colorway, more available at www.ontheround.etsy.com
worked in the round using Size 10 circular needles (16"/24")
Garter Stitch detailing in the yoke and at the base and on the sleeves.
Size Woman's Large
Boatneck
1/2 length wide sleeves

I plan on working the pattern out, but I think there are a couple of changes that I will make. I would like the sleeves to be slightly wider and the body slightly thinner, also I think I will make it a touch longer. Stay tuned, I will post the pattern in my blog when it's done! Thanks for looking!
