Slow and steady, I am finally getting back to making since having my little boy at the beginning of September. I am mostly done on catching up with custom requests and orders that built up while I was on my making hiatus, but I still have semi large order of handspun for my LYS to finish.
There was one fun project that I just had to finish, considering I started it in June! That project was my Rainbow Mini Skein set and I am pleased to say that as of last night- I am done!
I really wanted to spin some fingering weight yarn, which I personally find easier to do from batts and under 2 oz of fiber per bobbin. Flax and Alpaca fibers are both great for spinning fine as well so they were a natural choice to blend with the already rainbow dyed merino bits that I had on hand. The alpaca and flax fibers were both undyed so that is what the lighter flecks of color you are seeing are.
Each skein is approximately 1.8-2 oz and totally approximately 180-200 yards. So there is a minimum of 1,260 yards available in the set! I will figure out the exact amount of each skein after they have had a nice bath.
Originally, I envisioned knitting up a lace weight shawl (perhaps a Pi Shawl) with this yarn. But, as I mentioned above I am SO very behind (there is currently one skein of handspun in my shop!) so I think I will be putting this up for sale in my shop.
Here are all the shots I snapped on Instagram as this set slowly came together over the past few months.
Ta Da! There you have it folks, more rainbow inspiration from ontheround! If you are interested in purchasing this set you can get a hold of me or keep and eye out of my Facebook page or Twitter for when it has been listed in my Etsy shop!
Xoxo
Rachel
