Cha Cha Cha Changes...

I'm making some changes around here. It's time to start reaching those long term goals I've dreamed about for a long time. It's time to slow down in some areas, and speed up in others. It's time for me to grow, and this site to grow, and most importantly, to make until my hearts content.

Change is good, right?

The first thing to change will be Friday updates. I've been very inconsistent lately and it's time to officially let it go. Summer is here and things are not as routine as they once were. Instead I will start posting as soon as things are available. No rhyme, no reason, just when I can get to it.

Make sure you follow my Facebook Fan Page for all the details and most up to date information on new stuff. Instagram and Tumblr are also a great place to keep up with how the making unfolds and previews of that's to come. And of course Twitter, everything goes to my favorite Twitter.

Probably my biggest goal for this summer to get blogging. I've always been so inconsistent with this space and I'd really like to turn that around. I envision this space as my place to bring all those little bits of information I am always spewing out, together, with some thoughts.

You may have noticed that I've changed the name of this blog to, Freedom To Make. I find myself forgetting who I am and what I do sometimes. I am a grown up with an independent yarn company. I have the freedom to make- whatever, whenever, however.

It's so simple, but so hard to remember sometimes. I really bring myself down with the mundane- like weekly updates at 4 pm.

I think we all enjoy my work the most when I am having fun and making- freely.

It's always been my goal to inspire creativity over all else. To inspire you to get your make on and have fun. I'd like to bring that mission back up to the fore front.

Other changes, and this one is a big one. I am committing to fibers grown and processed here in the USA. I've always made breed specific fibers a priority, but I think it's time to take it a step further. The sad part about that is I will no longer be able to carry our beloved BFL- for now anyway. I'll continue my search for amazing fibers and blends, as well as be offering more hand processed fibers.

I will also be offering wholesale yarn for brick and mortar yarn shops.

This is a big one.

I've actually mentioned it over the last few months and can see in my stats that some of you have been on the look out.

I do apologize for the mystery of it all, I was unsure of myself and whether or not it was the right direction.

You see, my process involves bold steps forward, complete retreat, followed by a long mulling process, and almost always ending in (what I would consider), perfect execution.

It's a strange process I know, but I have to accept it as my own and work with it, not against it.

So, the wholesale portion of my business is now making its way to the perfect execution phase and will be open for business by the end of this month.

Where does that leave us now?

The next update will include some insanely gorgeous, organic U.S. sourced, naturally dyed yarn from the amazing Jackie Ottino Graff!

I cannot speak highly enough about the talent of this woman and I am absolutely beside myself to be able to carry her yarn on my site.

I'll be doing a separate post with all sorts of good stuff about Jackie and her yarn next with the unveiling of her collection so do keep an eye out for that!

Also, I am spinning my butt off over here for the Tour de Fleece, which started this past Saturday.

I've gone rogue this year and am not on any team. Also, I am working exclusively on my new Ashford e-spinner. I am spinning the amazing stash of fibers from some of my favorite indie dyers that I've collected over the past year, which is always such a fun adventure.

I plan to auction off the TdF yarns I've spun on my Facebook page after the tour ends.

I will do a separate post wrapping up each week of my Tour spinning on Saturdays. I've been snapping lots of pictures as I go!

I think that just about gets you all up to speed! I do apologize for the long lost, and I hope you made it though. If you did, please take advantage of coupon code THANKYOU for 10% off your next order here on the site, because, well, thank you. 😘

And here's to a busy, fun, relaxing, and creative summer!
